“Her happy place is on set, creating magic behind and in front of the camera…”

Bijoya Das uses movement to tell stories and inspire joy. Better known as BJ Das, she has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry as an experienced dancer, versatile TV and commercial choreographer, and most recently as the secret weapon coach behind the viral UCLA Gymnastics floor routines with almost 100 million views. Her art is choreography. Her sport is gymnastics. Her happy place is on set, creating magic behind and in front of the camera.
A proud Seattle native, BJ is now based out of Los Angeles. Her father, born and raised in India, was an avid table player who exposed her to music, rhythm and culture at a young age. Growing up BJ was a highly competitive gymnast, but honed her dance skills in her room when no one was watching (cue Spice Girls “Wannabe”).
After an injury sophomore year ended her college gymnastics career, BJ began to pursue her not-so-secret passion for dance, which ultimately led to a move to LA and a career as a professional dancer. Since then she has danced in countless television shows and commercials, and performed with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. As a natural leader with a creative mind, BJ soon found her way into choreography, working on everything from Super Bowl commercials and Netflix shows to award shows and music videos for artists and bands.
BJ’s career came full circle when she joined the UCLA Gymnastics team as a coach and choreographer. She merged her two worlds together seamlessly, adding her own flair to the sport and bringing college gymnastics into mainstream media and pop culture. In just two seasons, she made a name for herself by breaking stereotypes of traditional gymnastics floor routines. BJ sees sport and dance as a way for people to use their voice to inspire positivity and change in the world. Her work has been featured in the New York Times and earned praise from Michelle Obama, Ellen Degeneres, and more. Her priority is to not only coach her athletes to become outstanding performers, but to help them grow into confident and powerful young women.
With trust and joy in the process, BJ’s purpose and passion is coaching others, whether you’re an actor, singer, dancer or gymnast- to thrive in movement and in life.
